Adhesive rolls are shipped by the manufacturer shrink-wrapped in PE film. This type of packaging is essential to ensure that no moisture reaches the rolls or the adhesive coating, which could otherwise lead to spoilage. This establishes the primary requirement: adhesive rolls must be stored in a dry environment. Storing the rolls at temperatures deviating from the standard range affects their subsequent performance during application: adhesive rolls should be stored at room temperature (18–23°C). Under these storage conditions, the rolls can be kept for up to 5 years. For storage periods exceeding this duration, it is recommended to verify the adhesive strength. For technical reasons, the manufacturer packages the adhesive rolls in an "over-dried" state. As mentioned previously, virtually no external moisture can penetrate the packaging. Consequently, no moisture exchange can occur between the rolls and the ambient humidity at the user's packing station. However, since such moisture exchange is absolutely critical for the proper workability of the adhesive tape, it is advisable to unpack the required daily supply of rolls the day before use and place them at the packing station: adhesive rolls should be allowed to acclimatize for 24 hours prior to application. This measure is effective, however, only if the relative humidity at the packing station falls within the range of 50% to 70%.
